Welcome to the Animal-Assisted Outdoor Former Foster Youth Peer Support Group at Take A Paws CA—a safe place where your journey is understood, valued, and empowered. Led by a seasoned MSW-level behavioral health professional, who has gone through the challenges of foster care themselves, and supported by a compassionate student intern discussion leaders, as well as trained therapy animals, our purpose is to provide a transformative space that bridges the gaps left by the foster care system. Our group operates from a foundation of trauma-informed practices, ensuring that every step we take, every discussion we hold, is rooted in understanding the unique challenges you've faced. The group is full of fellow travelers who comprehend your path intimately. From celebrating your successes, to being there for you when you are feeling low, our purpose is to help connect former foster youth to the support, community, inspiration, and coping skills they may need to heal from the traumatic experiences that may have been faced in childhood.

Our group incorporates ecotherapy solutions, harnessing the therapeutic benefits of nature to aid in your healing process. Engaging with the natural world can be profoundly soothing, promoting mental and emotional well-being. Coupled with mindfulness practices, this holistic approach fosters self-awareness, stress reduction, and an enhanced sense of connection to both self and surroundings. All our sessions will be held in private spaces in the great outdoors!

Payments can be made in full for all 12 weeks, or on a weekly basis before each session.
$30/per session, 12 week duration, limited to 12 participants ages 18-30yrs.
Comes out to an affordable total of just $360 for 12 sessions.
